Weekend Recap: January 26-28, 2024

Such a good, wholesome little weekend. Let’s get into it.

Friday: A Trip to a Country Bar in Lancaster

Friday afternoon I headed out to my friends house in Wrightwood; about an hour and 15 minutes, depending on the traffic, from Morongo Valley. The plan was to drive to my friends and then they would drive the next leg to where we were planning to go that night. Our friend from college was celebrating her birthday at a line dancing bar called Buckle and Boots in Lancaster. It was a mission and a half to get to just for a quick evening, but it was honestly such a fun adventure.

None of us knew any of the dances and the regulars there had a difference dance for every different song, it was crazy. They stopped and taught one song/dance (which I barely got). They also had great BBQ food, linking the location here for anyone who ever finds themselves in Lancaster. We got there at around 7 p.m. and stayed for a few hours and then headed back to Wrightwood at the end of the evening.

Saturday: A Wholesome day in the Mountains

Saturday was such a good day. We spent the morning drinking coffee/tea and reading on their deck, which offers sunshine and incredible views of the mountains surrounding Wrightwood. My friends (Cori and Maddie) cooked a delicious breakfast for us and then Maddie finished baking her first-ever loaf of chocolate sour dough bread, so we all enjoyed a slice together. It was SO GOOD.

Then, we decided to all go on a walk, which turned into more of a hike. We also found a rope swing along the way and stopped there to ride it for a bit before continuing on. We hiked up a mountain for about a mile before reaching a beautify payoff overlooking the highway coming into Wrightwood.

After that , we headed into town and explored around the village shops for a bit before ending up at the brewery. Wrightwood Brew Co. is an excellent stop if you ever find yourself in the area.

Saturday evening I stayed and watched Supercross at Cori and Maddie’s and then headed back home to Morongo that night.

Sunday: A Paw Patrol Birthday

Sunday morning Jordan and I just did some chores around the house before heading down to La Quinta in the afternoon. Our friend’s son was turning 4 and had a birthday party. We enjoyed a great afternoon catching up with old friends and celebrating such a sweet boy.

And that wraps up another weekend for the books!
